Does Air Mauritius allow passengers to travel with their pets?

Pets are not allowed to travel in the passenger cabin on Air Mauritius flights, but you may take your pet with you as checked baggage under special conditions.

Also, on Air Mauritius flights, pets may be carried in the aircraft hold as cargo, subject to fulfilling all the special conditions. To confirm acceptance of your animal, you must contact the nearest Air Mauritius Office.

What general conditions apply to the acceptance of pets?

Pets are accepted as checked luggage only on flights from Mauritius, depending on the regulations of your destination country. Pets accepted as checked baggage include domestic animals such as cats, dogs, and birds. Domestic animals of unusual sizes, rodents, and reptiles must be transported as cargo only. 

Pets will not be accepted as checked luggage without prior reservation and the appropriate documentation. Prior to travel, you will have to ensure that your pet is in good health, vaccination certificates are up to date, and all relevant permits are in order. You must notify Air Mauritius when booking your flight if you intend to travel with your pet as checked baggage.

The applicable fee on the sector Mauritius – Paris CDG is EUR 350 for a maximum allowed weight of 32 kg, including the cage.

Guide Dogs

On Air Mauritius flights, Guide Dogs accompanying passengers with disabilities are carried free of charge (in addition to the normal free baggage allowance). The carriage of Guide Dogs is subject to special conditions. Guide Dogs are not permitted in the aircraft cabin. Passengers wishing to travel with a Guide Dog must arrange for it to be carried in the hold. To obtain more information about these conditions, you must contact the nearest Air Mauritius Office.
