What is Aerolineas Argentinas policy on hand baggage?

When flying with Aerolineas Argentinas, your carry-on allowance is 1 piece of hand baggage with a maximum weight depending on the type of flight and your travel class:

  • For domestic flights, in Economy Class, the maximum weight allowed is 5 kg (11 lbs).
  • For domestic flights, in Club Economy Class, the maximum weight allowed is 10 kg (22 lbs).
  • For regional and international flights, in all classes, the maximum weight allowed is 10 kg (22 lbs).

The maximum dimensions should not exceed 55 x 35 x 25 cm (22 x 14 x 10 in).

What is Aerolineas Argentinas policy on checked baggage?

Aerolineas Argentina has two systems to determine the free baggage allowance:

  • Weight Concept, which applies on flights between Brazil and the rest of South America and allows the transportation of a determined quantity of kilos depending on the travel class:
    • Economy (Tourist) – 23 kg.
    • Club Economy (Club Condor) – 30 kg.
  • Piece Concept, which applies on all other routes and allows passengers to transport a determined number of pieces, with prefixed volume and weight, which, if exceeded, will incur excess baggage fees.

Excess Baggage Fees

If your baggage exceeds the allowed weight or quantity, you will have to pay excess baggage fees that will depend on the route. Excess baggage fees will be charged at the beginning of the trip when checking-in for based on the baggage restrictions exceeded:

  • When Weight Concept applies (flights between Brazil and the rest of South America) – 1% of full fare published by excess charge.
  • When the Piece Concept applies (all other routes), if your baggage exceeds:
    • The number of pieces – per each additional piece.
    • The maximum weight:
      • Per each overweight piece 24-32 kg – the fee for the 1st additional piece.
      • Exception – on domestic flights in Economy Class, the fee for excess weight 16-23 kg of the piece within the free baggage allowance is ARS 180.
    • The maximum size:
      • Per each oversize piece 158-203 cm – the fee for the 1st additional piece.
      • Per each oversize piece over 203 cm – the fee for 2 additional pieces.
    • More than one restriction (for example, a second additional piece that is both overweight and oversize) – fees are cumulative.

Sports Equipment

On all flights except between Brazil and the rest of South America (Piece Concept applies), sports equipment is accepted under the following conditions:

  • On domestic flights, one set of the following sports equipment:
    • Golf, fishing, ski (snow/water), snowboard – free of charge.
    • Bicycle, sport hunting – as part of the free baggage allowance (as one piece of baggage of 158 cm regardless of its actual size).
  • On regional and international flights – one set of the following sports equipment, considered as one piece of baggage of 158 cm regardless of its actual size, as part of the free baggage allowance – golf, fishing, bicycle, sport hunting, ski (snow/water), snowboard.
  • Additional sports equipment or if the free baggage allowance is exceeded – the fee for the 1st additional piece applies.
  • Surf equipment (surfboard, wakeboard, sandboard or similar) – not included in the free baggage allowance:
    • One surfboard up to 277 cm – the fee for the 1st additional piece applies.
    • One surfboard over 277 cm – twice the fee for the 1st additional piece applies.
    • Additional equipment – the fee for the 1st additional piece applies.

On flights between Brazil and the rest of South America (Weight Concept applies), sports equipment is accepted under the following conditions:

  • One set of the following sports equipment as part of the free baggage allowance – golf (up to 15 kg), fishing (up to 15 kg), bicycle, sport hunting, diving, ski (snow/water), snowboard.
  • Additional sports equipment or if the free baggage allowance is exceeded – the excess baggage fee per kilo applies.
  • Surf equipment (surfboard, wakeboard, sandboard or similar) – not included in the free baggage allowance:
    • One surfboard up to 277 cm – charged as 5 kg of excess baggage.
    • One surfboard over 277 cm – charged as 8 kg of excess baggage.
    • Additional equipment – the excess baggage fee per kilo applies.

Baggage Service

In case of damaged baggage, passengers must present themselves at the Aerolineas Argentinas baggage claim counter and fill a form to declare the missing or damaged content and its value. This constitutes a formal complaint and must be resolved within 30 days. The claim must be made before leaving the airport. If the passenger leaves the airport and then presents the claim, proof that the damage or pilferage occurred during the flight must be made.
