What service does Air Algerié offer regarding minors?
Minors who have not reached their 15th birthday will be accepted on board unaccompanied if they meet the following conditions:
- The parent / guardian / responsible adult accompanies the child to the airport, presenting an evidence (discharge of responsibility) ensuring the airline that, upon arrival, another parent / guardian / responsible adult will be present there to pick up the child.
- The flight is not expected to terminate in any other conditions that those pre-established at the departure due to certain operational or weather problems.
Minors aged between 4 and 15 are supposed to pay the same fare as the adult passengers traveling in the same class of service.
What are the age restrictions on Air Algérie flights?
A child should be at least 4 years old in order to be able to travel alone on Air Algérie flights.
However, a limited number of unaccompanied children under 4 years old is accepted on board. When unaccompanied, children under 4 years old are allowed to travel only if they are older than 3 months, have a round-trip ticket booked at least 4 days before flight departure, and are accompanied by a stewardess who will care for them all along the route (the ground staff serves only as an intermediary between the parents and the stewardess).
Unaccompanied Minor Service
Air Algérie does not offer the Unaccompanied Minor Service specifically, but if you find yourself in this situation, the best course of action is to contact Air Algérie directly and ask them what steps should be taken.
From check-in, the child is cared for by Air Algérie staff all throughout its journey: in the departure terminal, through the control points (police formalities, customs, health, baggage claim), in the boarding lounge, in the arrival terminal, and until the arrival of the person responsible for collecting the child. It is recommended for the adult accompanying the child on departure to stay at the airport at least 30 minutes after the take-off of the plane.
Air Algérie allows children to travel alone on international flights, but all children not accompanied by a passenger older than 15 need paternal authorization and a valid individual biometric passport and visa, if necessary.
