China Airlines Baggage and Carry-on

What is China Airlines policy on carry-on baggage?

Carry-on baggage includes cabin baggage, personal and special items. Each passenger has a free cabin baggage allowance, based on travel class, in addition to which personal and special items may be carried on board.

What is China Airlines policy on checked baggage?

On China Airlines flights, all passengers (including infants) have a free baggage allowance. Depending on route, free baggage allowances will be calculated by piece (Piece System), or per kilogram (Weight System). Passengers with checked baggage exceeding the free baggage allowance will be charged excess baggage fees.

Carry-on Baggage

The cabin baggage is permitted in the aircraft cabin only if it can be safely stowed under the seat or in the overhead bin. For all classes, each cabin bag may not exceed 56 x 36 x 23 cm (22 x 14 x 9 in) in size and 7 kg in weight. Based on travel class, each passenger has a free cabin baggage allowance as follows:

  • Business Class – one piece of cabin baggage plus a garment bag (maximum 20 cm thick after folding).
  • Economy Class – one piece of cabin baggage.

One of the following personal items may be carried on board, free of charge and in addition to the above cabin baggage allowance:

  • Handbag or lady’s purse.
  • Small camera and/or pair of binoculars.
  • A reasonable number of duty-free items.
  • Umbrella.
  • Laptop computer.
  • Infant’s napkins, feeding bottle and food for consumption in flight
  • Reading material (a reasonable amount).
  • Food contained in disposable packaging (for consumption during the flight).

The following special items may be carried on board only if storage space is available in the cabin:

  • Child safety seat, baby bassinet, stroller.
  • Canes, crutches, prosthetic devices/braces.
  • Assistive devices and medical equipment or supplies.
