Check-in en Etihad Airways

How can I check in for an Etihad Airways flight?

For passengers’ convenience and besides checking-in the traditional way at the Etihad counters at the airport, Etihad Airways offers two other options:

  • Online Check-in.
  • City Check-in.

What deadlines do I need to consider when checking in at the airport?

At the airport, check-in opens at least 3-4 hours prior to departure. To ensure a stress-free passage to the boarding gate, you should be at the check-in counter at least 90 minutes before your flight departure time. Check-in closing time is 60 minutes prior to departure (exception, 75 minutes for Economy Class passengers for flights from Mumbai and Lagos). At some airports (e.g. Abu Dhabi, the US, the UK, etc.), First and Business Class passengers can check in up to 45 minutes prior to departure.

For all flights from Abu Dhabi to the US, check-in closes 2 hours before departure, and the US Preclearance facility at Abu Dhabi airport closes for acceptance 60 minutes before departure.

Online Check-in

For flights operated by Etihad Airways (not a codeshare partner), passengers can check in online from 48 hours to 1 hour before departure. With a few clicks, passengers can choose their preferred seat, check in and print their boarding pass, ready to present at the Bag Drop counter at the airport. Without a printed boarding pass, you can’t avoid the airport check-in queues and may experience delays in checking-in.

Online Check-in is not available if the special service Bassinet or Wheelchair  is added to the booking.

Mobile Boarding Pass

A convenient option for passengers with internet-enabled mobile devices, a Mobile Boarding Pass can be obtained if Online Check-in is completed at least 3 hours before departure using a mobile device.

Mobile Boarding Passes are available when departing from the following cities:

♦ Abu Dhabi (AUH) ♦ Brussels (BRU) ♦ Edinburgh (EDI) ♦ Los Angeles (LAX) ♦ Nairobi (NBO) ♦ Seoul (ICN)
♦ Amsterdam (AMS) ♦ Chicago (ORD) ♦ Frankfurt (FRA) ♦ Madrid (MAD) ♦ Narita (NRT) ♦ Toronto (YYZ)
♦ Athens (ATH) ♦ Colombo (CMB) ♦ Geneva (GVA) ♦ Manchester (MAN) ♦ New York (JFK) ♦ Washington (IAD)
♦ Bahrain (BAH) ♦ Dammam (DMM) ♦ Hong Kong (HKG) ♦ Medina (MED) ♦ Paris (CDG) ♦ Zurich (ZRH)
♦ Bangkok (BKK) ♦ Dublin (DUB) ♦ Istanbul (IST) ♦ Milan (MXP) ♦ Phuket (HKT)
♦ Belgrade (BEG) ♦ Dusseldorf (DUS) ♦ London (LHR) ♦ Munich (MUC) ♦ Rome (FCO)

The 2D barcode will need to be scanned while you pass through the airport security and at the boarding gate, so it is recommended to take a screenshot of the Mobile Boarding Pass. The Mobile Boarding Pass can also be sent to an email address or, for iPhone users, stored on Passbook.
