Fiji Airways flying with babies

Does Fiji Airways impose age restrictions for infants?

An infant must be at least 7 days old to travel on Fiji Airways flights. A child is regarded as an infant if they are aged between 7 days and 23 months (up to their second birthday).

Does Fiji Airways offer discounts for infants and children?

An infant held on an adult’s lap and not occupying a seat is eligible for the infant fare, which is 10% of the applicable adult fare (plus taxes). Infant bookings can be made on the Fiji Airways website.

An infant may occupy a seat if restrained by an approved child restraint system (CRS). In this case, the child fare would apply.

An adult may travel with only one infant regardless of how the infant is traveling, on lap or in an approved CRS.

Children aged between 2 and 11 years (inclusive) may be eligible for a child fare. Children between 2 and 3 years of age and under 18 kg may travel in an approved child restraint system.

Infant on Lap

An infant may be held on an adult’s lap only if a separate seat has not been reserved and the adult has not supplied an approved child restraint system. For safety reasons, an adult is allowed to hold only one infant on lap. Bassinets are available for infants and will be allocated at check-in.

If the seat next to you is unoccupied, then the available seat may be used, free of charge, to install a child restraint system for your baby if you provide an approved CRS. The availability of the seat without charge will be determined at check-in. If the seat is not available and you do not want to pay for an extra seat, the CRS will be transported in the hold as checked baggage.

Baggage Allowance for Infants

On domestic flights, there is no free baggage allowance for infants. However, one stroller can be checked in free of charge when you travel with an infant on Fiji Link flights.

On international flights, an infant is entitled to a hand baggage allowance of one piece weighing up to 3 kg (7 lbs) and not exceeding the maximum size of hand baggage. Also, infants are entitled to a free checked baggage allowance (except with the Economy Lite fare) of one piece up to 10 kg and 158 cm plus one stroller.

Strollers are not allowed in the cabin. If you want to use your stroller inside the airport, you should ask the check-in staff if you are allowed to check in the stroller at the gate.

Approved Child Restraint Systems (CRS)

It is your responsibility to supply and install an approved CRS in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Infant car seats that are not approved will only be accepted as checked baggage. Only child restraint systems that bear one of the following labellings/certification markings are allowed on Fiji Airways flights:
