Gulf Air flying with babies

How soon after birth are newborns allowed to travel on Gulf Air flights?

Newborns are not allowed to travel by air within the first seven days after birth. Newborn babies older than one week are allowed to travel on Gulf Air flights provided that they are healthy and have had a normal birth. Each infant must be accompanied by an adult.

Do I have to reserve a seat for my baby when flying with Gulf Air?

Up to 6 months old, your baby must always travel on your lap. Your baby can travel on your lap up to 2 years old, and you only have to inform Gulf Air that you will be traveling with an infant on lap. Each adult is only allowed to carry one lap child. When the infant is not provided with a seat, Gulf Air charges 10% of the adult fare, plus taxes.

If your baby is at least 6 months old, and you have a proper restraint device, you can choose to reserve a seat for your baby. The child fare, 75% of the adult fare, will be charged when the infant travels in a separate seat.

Traveling with Babies

On board all wide-bodied aircraft flying long-haul routes, Gulf Air offers a free service dedicated to young passengers under 12 years old, the Sky Nanny. Gulf Air’s Sky Nannies are specially trained for in-flight childcare services so parents can be assured that children will receive the best care and attention.

Bassinets (carrycots) are available on board for infants up to 7 months old, with a maximum length of 26 inches and weighing no more than 10 kg. To ensure availability and obtain advance confirmation, you should request a bassinet when you book your ticket.

Passengers traveling with children from 6 months to 3 years of age may use their own car seat in conjunction with an aircraft seat. The car seat must be a forward-facing type approved for use on board aircraft.

Baggage

Infants under the age of 2 years are entitled to a checked baggage allowance of 10 kg plus a pushchair / collapsible stroller and an infant car seat. Pushchairs are not accepted on board but can be taken as far as the gate. At certain destinations, pushchairs can be made available during disembarkation upon advice by the Sky Nanny through a telex. Only upon arrival in Bahrain, Gulf Air offers its own pushchair subject to availability.

Amenities

To offer the most convenient travel experience, Gulf Air gives families priority at check-in and boarding to avoid long queuing times. Gulf Air carries baby supplies on board and offers baby food, nappies, baby wipes, baby powder, and cotton bud packs on board.
