Helvetic Airways flying with pets

Does Helvetic Airways allow passengers to travel with their pets?

On Helvetic Airways flights, passengers may take their pets with them in the cabin or as checked baggage. However, the decision as to whether or not and if so how any given animal will be carried is made by Helvetic Airways. On certain routes, no animals may be carried due to quarantine regulations.

What pets may be accepted for carriage by Helvetic Airways?

Pets, such as dogs, cats, domesticated birds, etc., may be accepted as baggage but only if the pet has been reported when booking and its carriage confirmed by Helvetic Airways. The animal must travel in a suitable, secure transport container that must be provided by the passenger. The passenger is also responsible for obtaining and carrying any and all required health certificates and documents and meeting any other requirements of the destination country.

Pets in the Cabin

Only pets weighing up to 7 kg (including the transport container) may be accepted in the passenger cabin. Only a limited number of animals are allowed in the passenger cabin on each flight.

The dimensions of the transport container may not exceed 56 x 32 x 27 cm. The container must be watertight and kept shut and on the floor throughout the flight, stowed beneath the seat in front during takeoff and landing.

For each pet transported in the cabin, an additional fee of CHF 80 is charged per route. The fee must be paid at the time of booking.

Pets as Checked Baggage

Pets that, including the transport container, weigh more than 7 kg can be transported in the cargo hold for an additional fee of CHF 15 per kg. The fee is calculated for the overall weight (animal plus container) and must be paid at the check-in counter.

Guide Dogs

Helvetic Airways may transport only one Guide Dog accompanying a visually challenged passenger in the passenger cabin per flight. A demand for carriage of the Guide Dog must be registered when booking and confirmed by Helvetic Airways. The Guide Dog is carried without a transport container and free of charge.
