Volar con bebes en Porter Airlines

Are there age requirements for traveling with babies on Porter Airlines flights?

Babies must be at least 7 days old at the time of travel on a Porter Airlines flight. The adult passenger traveling with the infant must be over 16 years of age.

Will I pay for my baby to travel on Porter Airlines flights?

An infant is considered a child under two years of age at the time of commencement of travel. When traveling with an infant, you can choose between two options:

  • Travel with the infant sitting on your lap, sharing the same seat – free of charge (the US Customs Processing Fee will be applied for infants traveling to the US).
  • Purchase a separate seat for your infant – the full fare applies, and the infant must travel in an approved car seat.

For all infants, proof of age (birth certificate) must be provided. Without proof of age, you may be required to purchase a seat for your lap-held infant.

Infants

To confirm the eligibility of your baby, and also to ensure the correct processing of your infant’s ticket, Porter Airlines must record your infant’s date of birth at the time of booking. The date of birth may also be transferred to other airlines if your travel involves a transfer from Porter Airlines to another airline. In each booking, there must be at least one adult passenger (at least 16 years of age) for each infant passenger.

Only lap-held infants can be booked online. To purchase a seat for your infant, you must contact the Porter Call Centre by phone. The use of a car seat or restraint device is mandatory for an infant under 2 occupying a seat and optional for a small child.  You must bring your own car seat.

Car seats must carry a label showing that they’re approved for use on an aircraft, along with the instructions for use. Porter Airlines accepts car seats that have been approved to the following safety standards: the Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 213 or 213.1 and the United States Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 213. The car seat must be secured to a window seat, with you seated immediately adjacent, and must not exceed the dimensions of the aircraft seat (it should fit into the area 16 inches wide and 18 inches deep). An Amsafe CARES child restraint system may be used as an alternative to a car seat.

For verification, at the airport, you will be required to present identification (birth certificate) verifying your baby’s date of birth. The seats in the emergency exit rows of the aircraft cannot be occupied by adults traveling with an infant.

Baggage for Infants and Children

For each child or infant traveling on a Porter Airlines flight, one stroller and one car seat are accepted free of charge. If you need to ease your load prior to boarding, you can use the convenient GatePorter Service for car seats and small strollers.

Infants without a dedicated seat do not have a checked baggage allowance, nor are entitled to the carry-on allowance. Parents traveling with an infant under 2 years of age without paid seat are permitted, as an additional carry-on, a small diaper bag subject to standard carry-on weight and size restrictions.

On Porter Airlines flights, for children and infants with a separate seat, the standard baggage policy applies (normal weight and size restrictions, and baggage fees if applicable).
