How can I check in for a SATA Air Açores flight?

In addition to check-in counters at the airport, SATA Air Açores offers passengers two options for self-check-in for Sata Air Açores and Azores Airlines (formerly SATA International) flights:

  • Web & Mobile Check-in.
  • Kiosk Check-in.

What deadlines apply at SATA Air Açores counters at the airport?

At SATA Air Açores counters at the airport, the recommended arrival time and deadlines differ depending on whether you travel with checked baggage and have already completed check-in or not:

It is important to know that the travel time between the baggage sorting hall and check-in counters is about 40 minutes in certain airports and the travel time between check-in and the boarding gate, with security procedures, may take longer than 40 minutes at some airports.

Web & Mobile Check-in

Web & Mobile Check-in services are available, with a few exceptions, from 48 hours* until 1 hour and 15 minutes** before the flight schedule time of departure, to all passengers, except SATA IMAGINE passengers who have redeemed miles to upgrade to SATA PLUS class, departing from the following airports:

Web & Mobile Check-in services are available for all flights operated by SATA and for all destinations except connecting flights from SATA Air Açores to Azores Airlines (formerly SATA International). The Web and Mobile Check-in services are available when the journey involves only flight connections from Azores Airlines (formerly SATA International) to SATA Air Açores.

Web & Mobile Check-in services may be available for flight connections operated by TAP, when included in passenger’s itinerary. In the case of flights operated by partner airlines, Web and Mobile Check-in conditions may be different.

Printing the Boarding Pass

All passengers can check in, choose their seat on board SATA flights and, in some cases, print their boarding pass. The option to print your boarding pass is not available in the following situations:

  • If you are traveling according to the following fares:
    • Student, all flights.
    • Resident, presenting a work contract.
    • Resident, traveling with an infant.
  • If you have requested a specific service like special baggage transportation or special assistance.
  • If you are traveling on flights to/from the US, Canada, the United Kingdom and Cape Verde (due to specific procedures for these destinations). When traveling to/from the US, Canada, and the United Kingdom, you will be asked to enter additional data (APIS) during the Web or Mobile Check-in process.

If the boarding pass cannot be printed, passengers must contact the Web Check-in counter until 1 hour and 15 minutes before the scheduled time of departure.

Kiosk Check-in

For all passengers, except for SATA IMAGINE members who have redeemed miles to upgrade to SATA PLUS class, Kiosk Check-in is available for all flights operated by SATA departing from Lisbon Airport – Terminal 1, Porto Airport and Ponta Delgada Airport. Passengers can check in using a kiosk:

  • From 2 days up to 1 hour before departure for Azores Airlines (formerly SATA International) flights.
  • From 2 days up to 30 minutes before departure for SATA Air Açores flights.

Printing the Boarding Pass

Passengers can check in, choose their seat and, in some cases, print their boarding pass. Passengers will not be able to print their boarding pass when traveling with student and resident fare, if a specific service, like special baggage transportation or special assistance, has been requested, and for flights to/from the US, Canada, and the United Kingdom (due to specific procedures for these destinations). If the boarding pass cannot be printed, passengers must contact the check-in drop-off counter at least 1 hour and 15 minutes before the scheduled time of departure.
