Check-in en TAP Portugal

How can I check in for a TAP Portugal flight?

To make your travel preparations more easily and comfortably, TAP Portugal offers several options from which to choose how to check in:

  • Online Check-in.
  • Mobile Check-in.
  • Home Check-in.
  • Kiosk Check-in.
  • Counter Check-in.

What check-in deadlines apply for checking-in at TAP Portugal counters?

When choosing to check in at the airport counter, the check-in deadlines vary from 30 minutes to 1 hour before departure. When departing from Lisbon or Porto, you must have checked in at least 45 minutes before departure for European flights and 60 minutes before departure for intercontinental flights.

Online Check-in

Online Check-in is available for passengers with confirmed bookings on flights operated by TAP or Portugalia. You can complete your check-in anytime between 72 hours and 90 minutes before the scheduled departure of your flight, with two exceptions. For flights to the US, Online Check-in opens 24 hours before scheduled departure, and for flights departing from Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Geneva, Hamburg, Munich, Zagreb and Zurich, 23 hours before scheduled departure.

Online Check-in is unavailable at La Coruna and Oviedo airports (Asturias) or if you need to provide confirmation in person of the details of the credit card with which you made your booking at a TAP desk or during check-in.

If you are traveling with luggage, you will have to check it at the airport bag drop-off desk before the check-in deadline. If you only have hand baggage, you should go directly to the boarding gate. However, in some airports with additional requirements, you may have to go to the check-in desk before being allowed access to the departure area:

Algiers, Accra, Bamako, Casablanca, Marrakesh, Tangier,
Sao Tome, Caracas, St. Petersburg and Moscow

After checking in online, you must collect
your boarding pass at the check-in desk.

Belo Horizonte, Fortaleza, Manaus, Rio de Janeiro,
Natal, Porto Alegre, Recife, Salvador

The boarding tax stamp must be placed
on the boarding card at the check-in desk.

Mobile Check-in

Mobile Check-in allows you to receive your boarding pass directly on your phone or tablet up to 72 hours prior to departure (24 hours before scheduled departure for flights to the US). To use Mobile Check-in, you can access FlyTAP Mobile directly, the new version of TAP Portugal’s site for mobile devices, or download the app (available for Android devices and iPhone, iPad and iPod touch) and use the check-in feature.

Mobile Check-in is not available for flights from:

  • Africa – Bissau, Praia and Saint Vincent.
  • America – Belem, Brasilia, Belo Horizonte, Caracas, Fortaleza, Manaus, Miami, Natal, Newark, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Porto Alegre, and Sao Paulo (Viracopos).
  • Europe – A Coruna, Asturias (Oviedo), Budapest, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Geneva, Hamburg, Malaga, Munich, Oslo, Zagreb and Zurich.

Home Check-in

Home Check-In is a personalised check-in service, SKYBAGS, with baggage collection in the comfort of your home, office or hotel. The SKYBAGS service is available for passengers traveling with luggage from Lisbon Airport and can be purchased online or by phone. The service covers the following areas:

  • Lisbon city.
  • Lisbon to Cascais.
  • Lisbon to Sintra.
  • South bank of the Tagus and Lisbon District (subject to confirmation).

All passengers have to be present when the SKYBAGS employee comes to do the check-in, and a fee of €35 will be charged per passenger (special prices for children and groups). Extra bags and excess weight and size will be charged for on collection at the airline's rates plus a surcharge of €1 per kg in case of excess weight.

Kiosk Check-in

If you have not done your check-in, you may do so at the kiosks at your departure airport. In many airports, there are kiosks for self-service check-in where you can choose your seat and get your boarding pass in a few seconds. At some airports, you can also print your own luggage tags.

Passengers have to be at the boarding gate 45 minutes prior to departure time for intercontinental flights and 30 minutes for European flights. The boarding gates close 15 minutes prior to departure, and it’s not guaranteed that you will be allowed to board your flight if you arrive after this time. For this reason it is recommended to allow sufficient time for any queues at the bag drop-off point, security or passport control.
