How can I check in for Thai Airways flights?

When traveling on a Thai Airways flight, there are several options available for passengers to check in before or after arriving at the airport:

  • Internet Check-in.
  • Mobile Check-in.
  • Thai Airways Counter Check-in.
  • Self-Service Kiosk Check-in.

When must I check in for my Thai Airways flight?

Internet Check-in and Mobile Check-in are available from 24 hours until 1 hour before the flight’s departure time. When talking about the Self-Service Kiosk Check-in, this process can be made from 12 hours up to 30 minutes prior to the flight departure time, within the same calendar day.

At airports in Thailand, the check-in deadlines are:

  • 40 minutes before departure for international flights.
  • 20-30 minutes before departure for domestic flights.

At airports abroad, the check-in deadlines vary generally between 45 and 60 minutes before departure.

Internet Check-in

Internet Check-In is available from 24 hours until 1 hour before the scheduled departure time. You can choose this check-in option for both international and domestic flights departing from most airports served by THAI Airways. Only electronic tickets can be used. For making the Internet Check-in, it is important to have the confirmed booking reference or electronic ticket number.

Restrictions

This check-in method is not available for passengers who require special assistance at the airport, such as:

  • Passengers with wheelchair request.
  • Passengers traveling with special baggage: sports equipment, pets, and overweight or oversized baggage.
  • Children traveling alone.

Options

During Internet Check-in, passengers are given the option to:

  • Add passengers for check-in. Multi-passenger check-in is available for passengers, including infants, in the same or different booking code.
  • Edit your Royal Orchid Plus or Frequent Flyer Number. You can do this by clicking the “Update Frequent Flyer” button, typing the correct number and clicking the “Confirm” button.
  • View seat plans and change your seat. You can do this by clicking the option “Change Seats”. Besides, you can change the seat that was originally selected for you on connecting THAI flights. In addition, if your return flight is under the same code, within 24 hours, it will also be checked-in automatically.
  • Provide the necessary regulatory information. For all international flights, the necessary regulatory information required by the destination country must be provided. If you do not have this information ready, you will need to see an agent at the check-in counter and will not be able to print a boarding pass.
  • Get a Confirmation Document. The Confirmation document is delivered to passengers who completed regulatory data, but travel to a destination country that requires APP/API/AQQ/ADC and passengers who have purchased their ticket with a credit/debit card via web or telephone. This kind of passengers are not allowed to print a boarding pass but can print or receive by email and save the Confirmation Document. A regular boarding pass must be obtained at the check-in counter before the check-in deadline.
  • Get your boarding pass. The boarding pass is delivered for eligible flights: domestic flights (within Thailand) and flights to countries where the advance passenger information is not required. There are three options to obtain a boarding pass:
    • Home Print Boarding Pass – print boarding pass on A4 sized paper.
    • Mobile Boarding Pass or Passbook Boarding Pass – received by e-mail.
    • Receive Boarding Pass by e-mail – save and print later.

Mobile Check-in

With this service, you can check in for your Thai flight using your mobile. You can choose this check-in option for both, international and domestic flights. Only electronic tickets can be used.

Options

With the Mobile Check-in option, you are allowed to:

  • Do the check-in for you and other passengers – multi-passenger check-in, including infants, from the same or different booking reference, traveling on the same flight.
  • View a seat map and change your seat.
  • Provide the necessary regulatory information. For all international flights, the necessary regulatory information required by the destination country must be provided. If you do not have this information ready, you will need to see an agent at the check-in counter and will not be able to print a boarding pass.
  • Receive the boarding pass through one of three options:
    • By e-mail – Home Print Boarding Pass or Mobile Boarding Pass (only selected destination) are delivered by e-mail. You can opt to click on the link and save the Mobile Boarding Pass or print the attached PDF document (Home Print Boarding Pass).
    • Add to Passbook – passengers using iPhones or iPods with iOS 6 can save the boarding pass directly in Passbook format.

When you travel out of Bangkok to all destinations, you are allowed either to print the boarding pass at home (Home Print Boarding Pass) or receive a Mobile Boarding Pass or Passbook Boarding Pass only if you hold and enter proper travel document required to that destination during check-in.
