General presentation

As of December 2010, the Air France’s fleet operated 5 Airbus A 321 aircrafts, with no additional ones expected to arrive in the near future. These planes are used for European short and medium haul flights as well as flights to Africa and the Middle East. This plane is a longer version of the A320 and is the largest of the A320 family.
With a length of 44.5 m (146 ft) and a wingspan of 34 m (111.5 ft), the Airbus A321-200 is capable of a cruising speed of 828 km/h/511 mph at 11,000 m/36,000 ft. Its maximum range is 5,600 km/3,500 mi, its service ceiling 12,000 m/39,000 ft, and maximum speed 871 km/h/537 mph at 11,000 m/36,000 ft.
There are four “types” of Airbus 321 in Air France: “La Navette”, “Europe”, “Métropole” and “Métropole/Europe” and they can hold 200 and 212 passengers in their cabins.
The basic diffference in layout is the location of bassinets, unaccompanied children seats and business class divisions. “Métropole/Europe” and “La Navette” are both Economy airplanes and have the same seat arrangement. However, “La Navette” is used for departures from Paris/Orly to Nice, Marseille, Toulouse and Bordeaux and meals are quite limited. “Metropole” offers Tempo Economy class service.
